The Mercer Bay track loops back along the very edge of the cliffs so if heights are a problem for you then go back the way you came. There were great views south towards Whatipu and if you timed it right this would be a pretty good spot to catch a sunset. Select the photo below to see the views to the north towards Muriwai.
